Digging Wild Clay with Nic Sithole 3 JUNE 2023

Description

Join us at our first-ever digging wild clay and creating pinch pots and clay cattle with Nic Sithole. The clay will be dug on-site at the dam and will be followed by a demonstration on how to wash and prepare the clay for use.  We will discuss the clay body, and how to do adjustments to make it workable clay.  Nic will demonstrate how he creates his stunning cattle and ready-prepared clay will be available to create your own.

Nic Sithole was born in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga and since his childhood, he has created and formed animals in clay.  His earliest childhood memories involve times spent in the open field looking after the family cattle herd with his cousins and they would make small herds of cattle from wild clay.  Nic will share his stories with us and demonstrate how to create pinch pots and miniature cattle.

Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about wild clay and basic sculpting techniques with a master potter who has won numerous awards. Light lunch and refreshments will be served.

Notes:  Total cost = R850 per person INCLUSIVE of VAT.  A deposit of R425  secures your booking, the balance will be due on 29 May and you will receive a reminder and link for the balance payment to secure your space.  Limited spaces are available.

CANCELLATION TERMS:

1. The registered participant may invite another person to substitute their place in the workshop (in which they are registered) at any time, and at no extra charge.
2. No refund will be offered if notice of cancellation is received 7 days or less from the scheduled starting date.
3. If notice of cancellation is received 8 days or more from the scheduled starting date, a 50% credit of the deposit or full fee paid will be issued.
4. In the unlikely event that the workshop is cancelled, all confirmed participants will be notified immediately and a full refund will be issued.
